While chatting in our chat room network our main priority is to keep you safe! We advise that you read the tips and advice that we have stated below, while some of them seem fairly obvious, not everyone follows them! As well as the tips below, use your common sense, the best tool for a safe chat online!
Personal Information
Is is very simple to keep yourself anonymous on the internet, simply don't give out too much personal information about yourself! We strongly advise against giving out an address or telephone number as lots of information can be drawn from these. We also recommend that when you state your location you give the general area such as a state or county and not the town or city name. If you wish to e-mail other chatter we suggest you make up a separate e-mail address just for chatting online as people who you think are you "friends" could spam out your inbox by signing you up to e-mail chain letters. There is also no need to give out your full name, or even a real name, you can make yourself up a chatting nickname and stick to that, that way no one will even know your name.
Having a good judge of character
Some people think that they have a good judge of character and give out personal information to people they have been chatting to in private chats for months. No matter how good your judge of character is in real life, you never know on the internet, some people make a career out of being a con artist drawing personal information out of chatters online who believed them to be a friend. We strongly recommend to never give out personal details to anyone in private chat, no matter how well you know them!
Why do I have to stay in the rooms for my age?
The reason we have the rooms split up into different age groups is to keep our younger chatters safe. Going into a room that is not designed for you will result in you being banned from the room and maybe even the chat site. An older chatters who are found in a younger room will be removed from the site and will be reported to government officials.
Can I click on links in the chat site?
You can click on them but it is at your own risk. We do not recommend clicking on links posted in the room unless they are to well known sites such as myspace, bebo or photobox. Other links can lead to sites which can infect your computer with virus's or are scam sites trying to get money from you. Remember once you click on a link outside of this chatting site, we have no control over the content.
What do I do if I feel unsafe?
If at any point on our site you feel unsecure or threatened in anyway please visit the #Help room where a member of our dedicated staff team will help you.
If you feel some suspicious activity is happening in the main room, please report this to a moderator or go to #Help. This can be such things as people advertising other websites that seem strange or asking for an inappropriate type of chat. If someone is chatting to you and they are the incorrect age range for the room you are in, please also report this and we shall remove them.
Anyone trying to grab personal information about you should be reported immediately, these chatters will be dealt with appropriately, you should never give personal information out about yourself, no matter how hard the person you are chatting to pushes your limits.
